Managing Expectations & Aligning Goals

“Expect the best, plan for the worst, and prepare to be surprised.” -Denis Waitley

The college admission process is most often a family affair. As much as parents want to allow their child to explore their goals, plan for the future and take ownership of the college process it feels risky to place such an incredibly important decision in the lap of a 17 year old. The college process collides with an exciting, yet challenging stage in development where becoming and feeling independent is often a priority for the student. This parent seminar will help parents communicate in ways that allow for dialogue and planning versus power struggles and pushing off the college tasks. The goal of this seminar is to consider methods of communication and compromise that don’t threaten the student’s mission for independence and allows for productive conversations and college planning.
