Part musician, part lover of all things math and science, part adventurer, part video game enthusiast-- the list could go on and on-- John is someone who loves to dip his toes into new pools, and he appreciates that learning can be a never-ending journey. Luckily for his students, one thing he loves even more than learning is sharing his knowledge and passions with others.
John was initially drawn to and fascinated by math and science as subjects since they explain how the world works, as well as serve as tools for life. Though he was passionate, he found himself in need of a tutor to get through his college Thermodynamics class. After his experience as a tutee, he decided to make teaching his life's work. He understands what it can feel like to struggle and wants to support other students through their educational journeys; through this he derives tremendous satisfaction.
Just as he has many interests, he also offers many styles of teaching. He often prompts his students with questions to check for understanding and gain feedback on his teaching style, then adjusts as needed; this allows him to work comfortably with a wide array of students who have varying levels of need. John has examples in his pocket for how all topics relate to the real world, and appreciates helping students forge their own connections between topics that offer deeper levels of understanding.
