- Fun Fact:
Mike loves to play piano and writes original songs!
While some people have no idea what they want to be when they grow up, Mike had a pretty strong idea from the start. As the son of a STEM (Science – Technology – Engineering – Math) teacher, Mike took his first steps into the world of math at age 2. Math came naturally to him, and he was already multiplying and dividing by the time he was in kindergarten. He earned several math prizes before finishing elementary school and always strove to learn more. For Mike, the intrigue came from solving problems and finding concrete answers.
Fast-forward a few decades, Mike pursued degrees in biomathematics and actuarial science, completed a flurry of actuarial exams, and entered the world of actuarial science. To this day, outside of ES, he enjoys days filled with math and analysis. With such a strong passion, he joined the ES team to offer others the kindness and support his father had afforded him while teaching math. With extensive tutoring experience under his belt, Mike is known for incredible patience, his ability to break down complex concepts into manageable pieces, and his working previous topics into lessons to strengthen students’ foundations. For Mike, he finds that “AHA!” moment to be just as rewarding for himself as it is for his students.
