Executive Function Coaching

Does your student ever feel lost with where to begin with their school work? Are they falling behind or unable to determine how to best study? Are tensions rising when you try to help? If yes to any or all of these questions, executive function coaching can help!

Have your student join our certified EF coach, Coach Melisa to learn how to get (and stay) organized, advocate for themself, study effectively, and plan ahead. Through 1-to-1 personalized coaching, your student can lower their stress level and strengthen their executive function skills which they'll use their entire life.

Executive Function Coaching Options

Every student is unique, and we want to learn about yours! Who are they? What are their natural strengths and areas of concern? What motivates them? Roots of Success is a first step for each family interested in EF coaching to determine the best plan of action for your student.

Roots of Success begins with your completion of initial documentation. EF Coach Melisa will thoroughly review all documentation provided, as well as connect with others in your student's support team (as authorized by you). Thereafter, Coach Melisa will meet with you for 30 minutes virtually to learn about your student and their needs, as well as your goals for the future.

She then meets with your student for 1 hour (in person or virtually) to comprehensively understand their perspective, concerns, and goals. After both meetings are complete, Coach Melisa will create and share a plan to best nurture the growth of your student's executive function skills.

New habits are not formed overnight. We believe lots of students are able to learn, strengthen, and fine-tune executive function skills within a 12-week period. For those students, we have a 12 Weeks of Coaching: Single Option through which students routinely meet once per week for 12 weeks. For students who would benefit from more support, we offer the 12 Weeks of Coaching: Double Option which allows the student to meet twice weekly with EF Coach Melisa. Sessions are one hour each; this includes 45 minutes of 1-to-1 time and 15 minutes of family communications.

Every 6 weeks, families will be welcome to schedule a Family Meeting; parents and student are all encouraged to attend. These 30-minute virtual meetings are designed for you to converse openly with Coach Melisa about your student's growth, celebrate your student's successes, and discuss new and existing challenges.

A La Carte EF Coaching can be helpful to provide additional support to an existing 12-Week Coaching option during peak weeks (e.g. before exams and other stressful times). Alternatively, upon completion of a 12-Week Coaching option, students are welcome to re-enroll in another 12 weeks, or continue A La Carte. With A La Carte EF Coaching, students are welcome to continue for as long as desired, maintaining a structured weekly rhythm.

To help ease the transition into a new school year, especially those transitioning into middle school, high school, and college for the first time, meet with EF Coach Melisa 1-to-1 to learn what to expect and how to feel prepared for their next educational chapter.

Through this EF Boot Camp, your student will learn how to focus, plan and organize, as well as learn strategies for memory and attention, managing stress, reading effectively, note taking, and test-preparation. Melisa will touch on the use of technology and communication techniques, too.

Each EF Boot Camp is 4 hours long: four 1-hour lessons for those in middle school, and two 2-hour lessons for those in high school and older.
