Melisa

Melisa has been a life-long politics and history fan. After earning her undergraduate degree in Political Science, she knew she wanted to spread her passion through teaching. She pursued a Masters of Education with advanced study in Special Education, and, for 20 years, Melisa has been teaching students with a wide array of needs and abilities at a local high school.

She specializes in a vast assortment of areas from Life Skills (special education) to Advanced Placement (AP) Courses. She routinely takes part in an Extended School Year (ESY) Special Education program, and has been asked to be AP US History Reader (this is a high honor which allows her to score national AP US History exam essays)! As though that were not enough, she is also a certified Executive Function coach, and holds certifications in mindfulness, SEL (social-emotional learning), and yoga, too.

Melisa learned of ES from the murmurings of her students and realized how many students she would be able to help if she were to join our team- it was not long before she became part of our family. Melisa greatly appreciates the opportunity to mix her passion with her desire to help students learn and appreciate the relevance of US history to today’s world. She also thoroughly enjoys assisting students (those with and without special needs) through Executive Function Coaching.
